What we do

Four pillars of lasting impact

We meet people where they are — with compassion, mentorship, and purpose — across four areas of community life.

Supporting the sick
01 — Healthcare

Supporting the sick

Hospital visits, emotional care, and awareness campaigns that bring comfort and visibility to children battling serious illness and their families.

Empowering mothers
02 — Mothers

Empowering mothers

Mentorship, skills development, and support systems for young and single mothers building independence, confidence, and family stability.

Youth empowerment
03 — Youth

Youth empowerment

Guidance, mentorship, and confidence-building platforms that equip young people with the knowledge to shape a better future.

Community outreach
04 — Outreach

Community outreach

Visits to Mpemba Reformatory Centre and orphanages — bringing encouragement, donations, and a sense of belonging to overlooked communities.

Compassion

We lead with empathy in every visit, every conversation, every act of support.

Resilience

We believe that current circumstances do not define a person's future potential.

Purpose

Every program is designed to create a lasting cycle — those supported today uplift others tomorrow.

Our mission

Why Duwa exists

Named for a flower in full bloom, Duwa is a reminder that with the right care, every person can flourish.

The founder's vision

"With the right care and support, every individual — regardless of their circumstances — has the potential to flourish."

Geraldine Mavuka launched Duwa Initiative driven by a deep passion for community service and youth empowerment. She believes that compassion, when paired with action, can break cycles of poverty, illness, and hopelessness.

Duwa is more than an initiative. It is a movement — one where those who are supported today grow into the people who uplift others tomorrow.
